How to make an aperol spritz

Oh what I would give to be back in Lake Como sipping a Spritz. Funnily enough, I learned what a Spritz is in Paris. Paul and I were eating in this delicious, hidden gem of a restaurant (located above an Italian deli), and the the waiter asked if he could concoct me a special drink. Being that it was an Italian restaurant it’s not off the wall that he made me a Spritz, but I had never had one and I was in love. One sip was all it took before I became giddy from the fizz and refreshed from the citrus flavor. If there was a water of alcohol, this would be it. So. Damn. Refreshing.

On our honeymoon I sipped these round the clock–almost to a point of concern, as I was ordering them at like 10am–and knew I had to bring this recipe home with me. The great thing is, if you don’t feel like looking up the recipe each time, it’s very conveniently written on the bottle of Aperol–the key ingredient to the whole thing! But, I’ll share the recipe and pictures anyway 🙂

APEROL SPRITZ

  • Ice
  • Aperol
  • Prosecco
  • Soda or sparkling water
  • Orange
  1. Fill your glass halfway with ice and let the glass chill.
  2. Pour 3 parts champagne (I used a 2-ounce shot-glass for each part).
  3. Add 2 parts of Aperol.
  4. Pour 1 splash of fizzy water.
  5. Garnish with an orange.

Yup, it’s that easy! But careful, these heavenly drinks can sneak up on you if you’re not in Italy sipping them all day. Trust me, it happened to me last Sunday lol.
