Etiquette 101: On setting the table

Growing up I was the designated table setter since I wanted nothing to do with actually preparing the food. It was something I had grown accustomed to doing (and correctly) and have taken table setting duties to a whole other level since incorporating cooking into my life. Many times I would eat dinner at my friend’s houses and the table would be set incorrectly and  it was becoming something I couldn’t help but notice everywhere! Why do so many people NOT know how to correctly set a table? I blame my mother. She was a stickler about the flatware being placed in the right order and until this very day I make sure even a simple breakfast has the correct cutlery. To simplify life, I have highlighted the three main meals, since there are other meals, which include brunch, European meals, and formal.
